| In 1981, A Note on the Lion Forgeries
was published by the author to distinguish a number of Lion forgeries. In 1997, the book
was published in a more comprehensive format in 80 pages. Since 1997, many
people were asking for more copies of this book, however after a complete
revision of the preceding editions, in December 2006 the 5th Edition was
published in full color in more than 110 pages and hundreds of photographs.
In the first chapter, the original stamps are studied with a comprehensive listing of all varieties, errors, and essays including Riester and Barre essays with prices quoted in US Dollars. In second chapter, the so-called Paris Reprints prepared by M. Boital have been identified and discussed in detail. The third and final chapter of this book has an in-depth look into the forgeries of the lion stamps with characteristics explained. The 3rd edition of the Lions of Iran in 2003 was awarded vermeil award at SESCAL 2003. This book is considered as an essential tool for all those who collect the classical Lion Issues of Iran, dealers, auction houses, and libraries.
