Newspaper Postal Tax Issue

November 1909

 
Mohammad-Ali Shah Qajar abdicated the thrown in favor of his son on July 16th, 1909. An imperforate stock of his stamps was hand-stamped to be used as sort of a postal tax on the newspaper coming from abroad. Reportedly 500 sets were hand-stamped. The postally used copies are extremely rare.
