| Facing shortage of stamps, these stamps were
printed from the incomplete plates of the later issues by the Austrian
Government Printing Office in the earlier half of 1881 by lithographic
plates on white wove paper.
These stamps were prepared showing dual denominations of Shahis shown in the upper circles and French Centimes in the lower oval. Reportedly 10,000 copies of the one Shahis (5 Cent.) and two Shahis (10 Cent.) and 5,000 copies of the five Shahis (25Cent.) were printed. The unused or mint copies of the 25C are extremely rare. In general, all multiples of this issue are extremely rare and covers franked with these stamps are highly sought after. |
