1878 Re-engraved Issues

One Kran Red on White Paper

The old clichés were cleaned and re-drawn to print the needed one Kran stamps.
The new cliché types are as follows:

  • Type A - The lion's base line touches the circle of pearls on both sides also a white flaw or damage in the circle of pearls and surrounding circle at 2:00 o'clock position.
  • Type B - The "1" underneath the lion's stomach has much more pronounced serif at the bottom than at the top.
  • Type C - The "1" sits above the base line and there are generally an extra line or extra ink seen on the upper left of the cliche
  • Type D - The "1" sits usually well above the base line and has much wider base serif and occasionally the serif missing at top.
